Day Four

The last few days I've been sleeping on my back, but yesterday I was able to roll to my side to sleep, that was very very comfortable. I was pretty excited knowing that later on in the day I would be doing Physical Therapy. So overall the knee was good in the morning, I had an occasional bump, slap, rub of my knee from my daughter, and an occassional kiss. Didn't do too much yesterday. I didn't take any meds the whole day yesterday til I went to Physical Therapy. I don't know why I limit taking em, but I just don't like taking it. Before I went to Physical Therapy my knee would hurt everytime I would get up, not necessarily my knee, but the cut where my incision for my miniscus was, and the ligament out of my hamstring. Because of that I didn't do too much moving, just stayed on the couch..cause I knew I was gonna get worked at Physical Therapy. When the time came for my PT. Got there met the PT, his name is Jay, real cool guy, real cheery, nice guy, older man maybe 60. First thing he asked me to do was extend my leg straight as much as I could, I did bad at first, then he told me to work it out, so after a few stretches, I got it down as far as I could but was still 15 degrees short of being straight. And then he moved me to a different table started me on some exercises pertaining to my quad muscles. The first one was basically extending my leg/knee out straight for 6secs, we did a few sets of those. The 2nd exercise was lifting my leg up while a beach ball was under my knee, and holding it up for 6 secs. Did a few sets of those (10 reps). I did pretty good, the PT said, I actually lift my foot up a few inches. It didn't hurt the knee much, it was just hard for my mind to tell my leg what to do, and as much as I tried, it just wasn't working. Before I started these exercises I noticed that my leg was puffy, fat from my knee down because I could see the indentation of where my socks were. But it disappeared after therapy. After those exercises he massaged my legs and put a heat pack on my knee, and a stimulation thing on my knee, that felt good, had that on for 20 mins. He took that off massaged my knee, iced it for 10 mins, and that was it for the first day. Overall I thought PT was a success, I can move my knee a lot better now. It doesn't hurt as much now. He sent me home with exercises to do at home. But I really did feel good after Physical Therapy, I told my wife I felt so good, I felt like I could walk on my foot all ready. It was a great day! Pain level = 3
