Day Nine

Had PT today. My normal PT Jay wasn't there today. So I worked with a guy named Jim. He had me do the normal workouts that Jay usually makes me do, as Dianna came to pick me up with Selini..Jim was gettin me treadmill ready. My wife turned around to Jim and asked is he gettin on there, and Jim says yeah. My wife says umm he's not suppose to put weight on his leg for 4 wks. He looks at her and says I know, she says so is he gonna hold himself up the whole time? He says well he's been out for 8wks. She says no he hasn't it's only been a week! haha so he goes and looks up and says WOW I'm so glad I checked that it's written down wrong. So he had me do some other exercises and then when he's about to ice me he says man good thing your wife was here cause for 8 weeks out you suck, but for only 1 week, you're doing great! I'm glad we're on the same page with this Jim guy, cause I didn't wanna have to catch a law suit, for makin me do things that I couldn't do lol. After we left there we went to Walmart and did some shopping. I cruised around in one of those electric cart things, it was coo, but I felt like an old man. Only thing missing is a blue handicap sign to hang from the car, which I need. I'm sure my wife would be happy if we had one! Today's been the most active I've been since the surgery, as far as going out of the house and stuff. My wife still found a way to leave me for hours at a time. Came home and ate my plate from Mo Bettahs Steak, and lounged around. Pain level = 1-2

Day 8

Today I noticed while doing my at home exercises that I'm able to straighten my leg more. Rehab at home feels good, followed up with icing it. Didn't do ANYHING at all today, but lay on the couch and watch t.v. all day. I told my wife I can't wait to go back to work all ready lol. I'm tempted to walk all ready, cause I wanna get back to work. I can't wait til I'm able to go back cause this sittin around SUCKS. Pain level = 1

Day 7

Yesterday marked a week since surgery. Started off with Physical Therapy in the morning. My PT Jay told me I'm doin a lot better from the first time, I can feel I'm gettin better. Still not able to walk on my foot yet. Still have pain in my shin area. other than that same ole thing. Just been doin a whole lotta nothin. Watching T.V. with NO cable, and sleepin, sittin around. Pain level = 1

Day 6

Today started off like any other morning. Little pain if any. Slept ok cause once again I was able to sleep on my side. Woke up to my wife and daughter gettin ready to go to Stake Conference. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it, so I stayed home. When they left I was pretty hungry, so I decided I wanted to eat some grilled cheese sandwiches. It was pretty hard to prep, grabbing the grill out of the bottom of the stove, gettin the cheese from the fridge, almost fell over a couple times, but you know my man balancing skills took over lol. Cooked up 3 sandwiches, and walked over to the livingroom with it was pretty hard. Enjoyed some football the Miami/Pittsburgh game. Right now there's not much pain in the knee area, but below the knee in the shin area that's where all my pain is at. Later to find out, my wife was looking at it, and told me there was a big ole bruise there. And that's where it hurts everytime I get up! So I did a few of my exercises today, did a lil better today, I see more improvement, it didn't hurt as much. Right now I'm icing the shin area and my knee. Not a whole lot of activity going on today, maybe it's cause the weather outside. But if any of you wanna bring me over some dinner, you're more than welcome! haha Pain level as of now = 1 Shin area = 5

Day Five

Today I woke up feeling good. Because I was able to sleep on my side. Basically today, I did the same thing I did the day after my surgery, sat around, moved my leg up and down, a whole lotta lounging. My wife was irritated with me and Selini, she's dirty man she put my crutches on the other side of the livingroom and left to the store for a couple hours. So I didn't have my crutches, and without that I can't do much,I'll get her back for dat one! haha When she got back I went to the neighbors watched the BYU game, felt good to walk outside with my crutches. One thing I could tell that I haven't mentioned from my other blogs, I don't feel feverish at night. The nights before I would feel hot, and leave the window open even tho everyone else is freezing. Glad I'm not feeling that anymore. I haven't taken any meds today. I miss my 2 older kids a whole lot, they're in Hawaii having a good time, wish I could've went.
It's easy for me to get up from laying down, the transition is easier, and faster now. Anyone that has an ice maching that I can borrow, hook a brotha up! Overall my pain level right now is at a 2.

Day Four

The last few days I've been sleeping on my back, but yesterday I was able to roll to my side to sleep, that was very very comfortable. I was pretty excited knowing that later on in the day I would be doing Physical Therapy. So overall the knee was good in the morning, I had an occasional bump, slap, rub of my knee from my daughter, and an occassional kiss. Didn't do too much yesterday. I didn't take any meds the whole day yesterday til I went to Physical Therapy. I don't know why I limit taking em, but I just don't like taking it. Before I went to Physical Therapy my knee would hurt everytime I would get up, not necessarily my knee, but the cut where my incision for my miniscus was, and the ligament out of my hamstring. Because of that I didn't do too much moving, just stayed on the couch..cause I knew I was gonna get worked at Physical Therapy. When the time came for my PT. Got there met the PT, his name is Jay, real cool guy, real cheery, nice guy, older man maybe 60. First thing he asked me to do was extend my leg straight as much as I could, I did bad at first, then he told me to work it out, so after a few stretches, I got it down as far as I could but was still 15 degrees short of being straight. And then he moved me to a different table started me on some exercises pertaining to my quad muscles. The first one was basically extending my leg/knee out straight for 6secs, we did a few sets of those. The 2nd exercise was lifting my leg up while a beach ball was under my knee, and holding it up for 6 secs. Did a few sets of those (10 reps). I did pretty good, the PT said, I actually lift my foot up a few inches. It didn't hurt the knee much, it was just hard for my mind to tell my leg what to do, and as much as I tried, it just wasn't working. Before I started these exercises I noticed that my leg was puffy, fat from my knee down because I could see the indentation of where my socks were. But it disappeared after therapy. After those exercises he massaged my legs and put a heat pack on my knee, and a stimulation thing on my knee, that felt good, had that on for 20 mins. He took that off massaged my knee, iced it for 10 mins, and that was it for the first day. Overall I thought PT was a success, I can move my knee a lot better now. It doesn't hurt as much now. He sent me home with exercises to do at home. But I really did feel good after Physical Therapy, I told my wife I felt so good, I felt like I could walk on my foot all ready. It was a great day! Pain level = 3

Day Three

Sorry I'm late posting but yesterday I woke up with little to NO pain, it felt pretty good. I got ready early to go to my Dr's appt at 9:30am. Waited at the dr's office we waited for about 30mins (shocking usually it's an hour wait) I was seen by one of his assistants who took off my bandages, and I was able to see my knee for the first time. I was surprised cause the swelling wasn't that bad, but I have a big blister towards the bottom of my knee. pics to come.... The assistant made me extend my leg as far as I could. I wasn't able to extend it fully, but I was surprised I could extend it at all. I was told later on by the dr that I am not to stand on my leg at all for the next 4 weeks. Another assistant came and removed my stitches and cleaned up around where the bandages were. I am able to take a shower now, but not bathe or soak my knee. They sent me home with letters to my job that I would be out on light duty for 4 weeks without standing, so I called Delta and they said sorry we don't have any light duty without standing so I'll be off from work for the next 4 weeks. They also gave me a referral to start physical therapy which starts today. After all that we went to Subway me and my wife. I feel that I am gonna be gaining a few pounds within the next few weeks. I feel like all I do is lay around, and eat! My wife dropped me off at my moms house while she went to work for a few hours. I didn't wanna stay at home alone, I couldn't handle it anymore. At my moms I played XBOX, watched cable t.v, ate some tongan food, life was great at my moms! All the while awaiting for the big game East vs Highland which later on I was very very very disappointed. The Leopards got ramified by the RAMS! Went next door to the neighbors house chilled over there for a few hours talking and socializing with Lani, Chris, and Toa while they were mixing the kava roots. I didn't come home from the neighbors til a lil after 1am. Pain level = 3
